Nightmares in Red, White and Blue
This is a documentary film about horror movies in general. From the early days of silent or black and white horror films, on to todays fan favorites or horror movies....what few there are.
The film has many interviews with horror directors and other people involved in horror movies. It has many big names such as Wes Craven (Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream), John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing), and George Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead etc..) just to name a few, and they talk about various different movies from the early days 'till today.
The movie talks about horror movies such as the early films like Frankenstein and Nosferatu, and goes on through the history of horror movies, through the slasher craze in the 80's until today's movies that have to be bloodier and more shocking than past movies in order to shock the audience.
They touch on what was going on in the world during the time that the movie was released and how the movie directly reflects the problems in the world at that time.
They go really in depth with their discussions on the films and talk about the deep psychological aspects of some films, or simply how fun it was to make them.
This documentary is great and I highly recommend this for any horror fan. If you're not really a horror fan....it doesn't matter because you wouldn't be reading this right now would you?
Score : 10/10
