Mortal Kombat
This is the 9th game in the Mortal Kombat series and has reverted back to just the name "Mortal Kombat". This game has been hailed by many gamers and many MK fans. I have been an MK fan since playing the first game in an arcade at the local roller rink back in the early MK days.
Anyway...This game begins after the events of Mortal Kombat Armageddon, after Raiden has been defeated by Shao Khan. Raiden, realizing his failure, makes a quick decision to send his mind back in time to his former self in the beginning of the tournament in the first game. From there the Raiden of the past has to figure out what to do to save the future.
STORY
The game has many gameplay modes including the Story mode. Which allows you to go back in time and play through the storyline of the first 3 MK games. You play through the story as several different characters from the series and you discover their back stories along with making the in depth MK universe, even further more in depth. The story mode is long and difficult but fun as hell with movie scenes between each battle.
There are even points in this game where you can actually change the history and timeline of the Mortal Kombat universe. So you may think you know the story of the first three games but now it changes. History doesn't repeat itself this time.
Score : 10/10
GAMEPLAY
Along with the story mode there are several other modes.
Arcade mode which allows you to play the original arcade towers on various difficulties from beginner to expert.
Tutorial mode which allows you to just free fight and not have to worry about dying. Or you can go to the Fatality Tutorial. Yes you can now practice each characters fatality. Only the first fatality though. The second Fatality and Babality can be done if you know how to do them too, but it doesn't show you how.
The challenge tower is another awesome mode they put in this time around. It allows you to climb up a 300 level tower where you have to do everything from testing your might by stopping a power meter within a box to break various objects, to testing your sight by playing a classic ball and cups game with a MK spin of course. There are also fights in the tower with practically every MK character, and there were several different perks or drawbacks that you are randomly inflicted with in some of the fights, like sometimes you will fight with no arms or your health will slowly drain. There's dozens of them. Sometimes you will have to fight off a horde of zombies or Tarkatans while using nothing but specific special abilities. The challenges get harder and harder when you get toward the top. The last challenge is fighting Goro, Kintaro, Shao Khan, and Mileena all in a row with 1 health bar....tough as shit...
The games fighting system is great, the gameplay feels similar to the gameplay of the original MK games and that's how it should be. Also the Fatalities have returned! Each Character gets 1 fatality and another fatality you can unlock for a total of 2, which isn't so bad because they are all freakin' brutal. Each character can also perform a stage fatality on MANY of the games stages. Also Babalities have returned! You can again turn your enemies into cute little babies.
The game has a wide variety of characters, they have practically every character from the first 3 games and also a few downloadable characters such as Rain, Scarlet and my favorite Freddy freakin' Krueger. Yes that's right WB owns the rights to both MK and Freddy Krueger so why not combine the two? Awesome! I can now hack and slash people to death as Freddy Krueger....Just like in my dreams...Hopefully Jason Voorhees is next!

Graphics
The game looks beautiful with every heart and intestine and blood splatter as it should be. It is completely GOREgeous...Haha zing! Anyway, each level is updated and they all look great. The fatalities look brutal and somehow beautiful. Each movie scene is freakin' great and fitting for the game and they all flow nicely.
Each and every character is designed to look absolutely perfect, giving every surface of them some form of texture and color.
The entire game looks amazing and I cannot wait for the next game! I hope they keep up the same style as with this one, they hit the jackpot with this game once again.
Score : 10/10
Replayability
This game has several game modes and each of them are very fun. There is also a Krypt like in the previous games so you can always go unlock alternate costumes, fatalities, in game songs, art work and other such things so there is pretty much always something to do. I mean damn...there's a 300 level challenge tower that's hard as shit, try and beat that.
Score : 10/10
Overall
This game is awesome all the way around, I have found no failures within this game. I could play it over and over again. I've already beat it a dozen times and I love it and recommend it for anyone the loves fighting games or that has liked any of the previous MK games.
