George A. Romero Presents Deadtime Stories Vol. 2
This is a great anthology film that is comprised of 3 horror stories. The movie is hosted by George Romero and he talks a little bit before each story. "Now I lay me down to rest, but there's a goblin upon me chest. He's gray and ugly and very gory and he wants to tell me a deadtime story."
The first story is about 3 friends who go cave exploring and get trapped in a cave in. They have to resort to cannibalism to stay alive, but what happens to them afterwards is really bizarre. This story is probably my favorite of the 3 for how it ends and the great gore effects that are in it.
The second story is about an asshole history professor in college that is having an affair with one of his students. He gets her pregnant and she does not know what to do, so she kills herself and haunts her lover. This story is in my opinion the weak link of the three stories, but it is still a very good story, with some great gore, although the blood may be a little too dark.
The third story is about a security guard at a laboratory. One night one of the scientists shows the guard what they have there. Dust from Mars. The scientist believes that it could have miraculous effects and could cure people of any illness. The guard is excited at the idea because his wife is dying from cancer and he would do anything to cure her. So he steals some of the dust, and miraculously it actually works. It makes her better. It makes her better than better. It brings her back to her normal state and gives her a huge sex drive. All seems good until the cancer returns and she needs more dust. However the cure comes with a price.
This anthology movie is great in my opinion and the only real problem I had with it is that it feels like a shot on video movie, which really isn't a problem to me at all. Not everyone likes anthology movies so if you don't then steer clear of this one, but if you like them then this one is one you will love.
Score : 9/10
